Cereus Graphics Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Phoenix, AZ February 10, 2003 - To celebrate its 30th Anniversary, Phoenix, AZ-based Cereus Graphics announced it will hold an open house on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at its facility in Phoenix. In addition to providing an opportunity to show off the company's state-of-the-art 37,000 sq. ft. plant, the event will feature demonstrations of the company's new 6-color Komori Lithrone S40 sheetfed press and 7-color HP Indigo 3000 variable data digital printing press.
"There are lots of changes happening at Cereus," says President Tom Ginter. "Since buying back the company last year, we've been on a roll. We just introduced our new corporate identity, are about to launch a new marketing campaign, and we have several other exciting technology and equipment advancements to unveil in the near future."
At a time when most printing companies are closing or contracting, Cereus' success goes against the tide. Building on the legacies of the two strong companies-G&G Printers and Commercial Lithographers-that merged in 1999 to form Cereus Graphics, Ginter and Sales Manager Steve Burm are strategically positioning the company to address the changing print buying market.
"Research we recently conducted revealed that print buyers are increasingly stressed in their jobs," says Burm. "They're expected to do more for less money, including finding ways to reduce printing expenditures. These findings have helped us design an internal digital workflow that not only speeds up production cycles, but also streamlines the preflighting, proofing, and press checking burdens. We are determined to do everything we can to help them with whatever problem they have, whether it's a budget issue or a print production problem."
According to Ginter, the research also found that buyers prefer to deal with one provider for all their printing needs; it's less hassle as well as less costly. Addressing that concern, Ginter is expanding his black/white digital printing capabilities to color. The acquisition of the Komori, only the second to be purchased by a U.S. firm, greatly expands Cereus' sheetfed capacity, while the HP 3000 helps solidify Cereus' position as the premium brand in digital, full-color printing.
"The timing is right for us to build a strong 'under-one-roof' brand," says Ginter. "We're already well known both for high-end color work as well as digital capabilities, including variable data and on-demand printing. It makes perfect sense to expand into the short-run, digital color market."
